FFM has selected three community ambassadors as new board members.  The three members started their first three year term in October.

Louise Tremblay, the board chair for Forsyth Farmers’ Market said, “The FFM board is honored to welcome Kareem, Nichele, and Cherie to our membership. Their community leadership, expertise, and commitment to the mission strengthen our work and help to ensure success in the coming year.”

The first new board member Forsyth Farmers’ Market is welcoming is Kareem Hill.  Kareem is a native of Savannah, Georgia and is employed with the City of Savannah as the Resource Center Manager at the Pennsylvania Avenue Resource Center (PARC). He is an assertive, ambitious, and agile professional that became involved with the Forsyth Farmers’ Market/Farm Truck through his work and interest in accessible local products/goods. He is truly committed to helping individuals advance in the area of Health & Wellness; and is passionate about promoting a healthy, equitable, and economically vibrant Savannah.  Kareem will be serving on the Farm Truck 912 committee with Forsyth Farmers’ Market.

The second individual Forsyth Farmers’ Market is excited to welcome is Nichele Hoskins.  Nichele is Healthy Savannah's Communication Manager for COVID/Flu under the CDC’s REACH Grant. A graduate of Beach High School and Savannah State, her key roles are building community health knowledge, increasing access and understanding of COVID, the seasonal flu and the vaccines that can help reduce the disproportionate burden they place on Black and Latinx communities in Chatham County. A longtime health journalist, Hoskins earned an MA in Journalism from The University of Michigan and has worked as a senior editor at such national publications as Health and Heart & Soul magazines. Her journalism experience began at such daily newspapers as the Sacramento Bee, the Savannah Morning News, the Shreveport (La.) Journal and the Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram. All that aside, she’s a certified fitness instructor, a hula hoop maker, FFM and FarmTruck912 patron, and proud container gardener who is more thrilled than she should be that her potted lime trees have yielded enough fruit for a few fine margaritas.

The last new individual joining the board is Cherie Trice.  Cherie is the Director of Development at Greenbriar Children’s Center in Savannah. Before coming to Savannah in February of 2020, Cherie was the Director of Giving at Foodshare, a food bank located in Connecticut, part of the Feeding America network. A vegetarian for over 30 years, she believes that everyone should have access to fresh, healthy and local food. She spent her first Saturday in Savannah at the Market marveling at the bounty available from local farmers.  Cherie will be serving on the fundraising committee with Forsyth Farmers’ Market.

Jeb Bush, executive Director of the Forsyth Farmers’ Market said, “These three community leaders are going to add so much to the Forsyth Farmers’ Market team.  Their diverse backgrounds and interests will provide new avenues for the organization and I am so excited to learn from them and with them as we help farmers and improve food access in our community.”

Forsyth Farmers’ Market board members are elected to three year terms.  They are allowed to serve up to two terms in a row.   We are excited to welcome all three new members and look forward to working with them and see what they will do in their three-year term.
