West Construction Company recently received a First Place Build Georgia Award from the esteemed Associated General Contractors of Georgia (AGC Georgia) for constructing “The Stage at Building no. 5, in the SCAD School of Entertainment Arts.”

West Construction Company is a commercial general contracting company based in Savannah, Georgia. With decades of experience throughout the region, West Construction has an established reputation for quality, integrity, and diligent customer service. For West Construction, SCAD’s Stage at Building no. 5 was a fast-paced 30,000 SF intensive adaptive reuse project to convert a formerly vacant warehouse on Louisville Road into a dynamic new addition to Savannah and SCAD’s growing campus. Completed ahead of schedule and under budget, the building features 15,000 SF of modern educational and support space and 15,000 SF of a contemporary film studio, including the first XR Screen in our region.

“We are honored to be selected by our peers at AGC for the First Place Build Georgia Award. We’re thankful for their recognition of the hard work put into this challenging and rewarding project,” said West Construction Company President Matt West.

AGC Georgia is the leading statewide trade association representing the commercial construction industry in Georgia. The organization holds an annual awards competition where projects are judged on their ability to demonstrate excellence in several categories, including exceptional project safety performance, overcoming the challenges of a complex project, innovation in construction techniques and materials, excellence in project management and scheduling, and dedication to client service and customer care. The selection panel includes industry professionals, and hundreds of projects are submitted annually.

SCAD’s Stage at Building no. 5 is another award-winning project in the West Construction Company portfolio. Several commercial, institutional, and industrial projects have also received prestigious recognition, making this the seventh Build Georgia Award in the last five years.
