The Chatham County Police Department hosted a fitness day to promote health and wellness for the middle school boys at Bethesda Academy. Officers intend the event to be an opportunity to show the physical demands of a career in law enforcement.

The Chatham County Police Department set up two obstacle courses for some friendly competition and for the boys to test their agility, flexibility, and physical fitness. The course featured ladders, cones, hurdles, weights, running and pushups. This is the first time this program has been held at a school in Chatham County.

"We picked Bethesda Academy for this because, over the years, our relationship with Bethesda Academy has grown significantly," said Chatham County Police Neighborhood Liaison Officer Esquina White. "It's good to be able to actually engage with the kids and meet them outside of something like responding to calls for services. We had a lot of fun with them," White said.

Prizes for the top three winners were sponsored by Spanky's and Leopold's Ice Cream. A pizza party sponsored by Donato's was held afterward.
