Savannah Music Festival to Present In-Person Musical Explorers Concerts

After nearly two years of hybrid learning, the Savannah Music Festival’s popular Musical Explorers programwill officially return to in-person concerts for local K-2 students and teachers on Monday, May 2 at the Trustees Theater, located at 216 E. Broughton St. 

The performances will feature the ring shout of the Georgia coast with the McIntosh County Shouters, southeastern woodlands Native American music with Martha Redbone, and South African kwela with Naledi Masilo. The concerts will kick off Monday, May 2 with a 12:15 p.m. performance at the Lucas Theater and will continue Tuesday through Friday with live performances at 10:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. daily.

“Musical Explorers continued as the de facto music curriculum for local K-2 classrooms throughout the pandemic, but we are thrilled to offer students and teachers their first in-person field trip concerts since December of 2019,” remarks SMF Director of Education and Community Engagement, Jenny Woodruff.
