Today, veteran-owned real estate company, American Veteran Properties (AVP) expands its presence to South Carolina to help military families enjoy homeownership and build financial security. AVP is also pleased to welcome South Carolina native and new agent Erin Carraway to the team. Like AVP’s CEO and other agents, Carraway is also a veteran, who understands the specific needs and experiences of the clients.

Founder and CEO, Eric Lukkarinen was a soldier in the U.S. Army until 2001. After completing his service, he became a realtor with a focus on residential sales and soon developed expertise in military sales with use of VA loan packages and overall income-producing real estate management. This led him to set up American Veteran Properties in 2021 in Georgia, with a focus on the specific needs of military families, especially regarding military PCS/relocations. Lukkarinen is committed to providing career opportunities to other veterans after their service ends by having them join his team.

“No one was teaching them how to take advantage of their benefits to make their families comfortable while building upward mobility and growing their personal wealth,” Lukkarinen said. “It’s an extremely important concept that, if utilized correctly, can greatly improve a service member’s quality of life and set them up for a nice life following their exit from the military.”

This philosophy has served many throughout Georgia and AVP is excited to establish the company in the South Carolina market. “Good things happen when you take care of people, especially the people tasked with taking care of us. When you ease the burden on military families in this way, they’re happier and healthier. Service members enjoy their jobs more and exceed expectations; when money isn’t a worry, the big picture improves dramatically and so does quality of life. Thus, our country is better protected. It’s a win-win situation for everyone,” Lukkarinen said.

In establishing the company in South Carolina, American Veteran Properties welcomes South Carolinian Erin Carraway as an agent to the team. Carraway enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps and has served as an air traffic controller for the last five years. Having been previously stationed at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar in San Diego, CA and MCAS Beaufort in Beaufort, SC, Carraway has firsthand insight into the stressors that go along with PCS moves and ensuring that the home buying process is as easy as possible for her fellow military community.

“Being a part of American Veteran Properties allows me to continue to interact with and assist our military community in such a fulfilling way,” said Carraway. “As I close out this chapter of my career, I’m looking forward to being able to continue serving our active-duty service members and helping educate them on how best to utilize their benefits at hand when it comes to homeownership. I’m thrilled to be on board and be part of the expansion of AVP all throughout the Lowcountry.”

Carraway is a licensed agent in South Carolina and eager to give back to the community by simplifying the home process, whether a client is seeking to find their starter home, investment property or their forever home.
