In observance of March as Women’s History Month, Savannah State University will present the inaugural Women’s Leadership Conference beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 27, in the King-Frazier Student Center ballroom.

The theme, Women Rising: Moving Forward and Making a Difference, will highlight a number of relevant topics including: executive leadership skills; work/life balance; navigating change; tools for success; developing 21^st century leaders; and bridging troubled waters.

Cheryl D. Dozier, president of SSU, and other local college presidents will lead the opening panel-style dialogue on women at the top in higher education followed by an executive leaders panel chat.  Thereafter, participants will break into smaller discussion groups with women leaders who represent the small business, corporate, government, education, health and social service sectors. “Many women have been taught that they must go above and beyond to achieve success,” Dozier said. “This conference will feature women leaders who have excelled in their careers. Attendees will gain valuable insights and wisdom throughout the day as they network and share their stories."

Recognition will be given to Savannah women in leadership roles. Recipients will include: Sarahlyn Argrow, founder of A Working Woman in Need, Inc.; Honorable Edna Jackson, mayor of Savannah; and ZaDonna Slay, executive director of West Broad Street YMCA.

Cathy Hill, of Georgia Power, will recognize three presidents of higher learning: Linda Bleicken, Armstrong State University; Cheryl Dozier, Savannah State University; and Kathy Love, Savannah Technical College.
