Bouhan Falligant Celebrates Grand Opening of New Office Building

Bouhan Falligant, LLP celebrated the grand opening of its new three-story, 18,000-square-foot building at One West Park Avenue, on the south side of Forsyth Park. The highly detailed, brick-veneered and energy-efficient building with cast stone elements was constructed in nine months, a bit of a record for a custom private office building.
“After being housed in the iconic Armstrong House for more than 40 years, we are excited to be in such a prominent and stately building at One West Park,” said Lea Holliday, managing partner, Bouhan Falligant. “We look forward to being a good corporate neighbor and continuing to provide quality advice and counsel for our clients.”
Bouhan Falligant’s offices offer exceptional meeting facilities with conference rooms that are suitable for different meeting settings. The board room on the main floor, featuring a scenic view of Forsyth Park, can accommodate large groups, and the smaller conference rooms offer privacy and state-of-the-art technology that is often a requirement in client meetings. For the convenience of clients, there is also a full parking lot on the side of the building.
The building, which was designed by Felder and Associates and built by West Construction Company, most closely resembles the monumental architecture from the Federal style period. The primary design features include regularly spaced pilasters, topped with cast stone capitals, which support a classical motif brick entablature. The heavy stone cornice above the pilasters wraps the entire building. Though the exterior is traditional, the interior is clean, crisp and incorporates all of the features of modern efficient office design.
“We began this project by looking at other large-scale buildings located around Forsyth Park,” said Brian Felder, managing principal of Felder & Associates. “The Chicago-style of design, prominent in Savannah with examples like the Germania Bank, the Dunbar Theater, Adler’s and the News Press Building (all lost, save the News Press), was the inspiration for the building. This style has characteristic pilasters, wide, stacked window bays, and simple cast stone ornamentation. The interior design approach centered on creating a modern and efficient layout.”
In addition to the modern design, the building is also energy efficient and will result in a 30 to 50 percent reduction in energy use per person. There are point-of-use controls for HVAC, allowing more individualized control of comfort systems, as well as highly-efficient HVAC systems. Daylighting and dimmable LED lighting allow for control and reduce the amount of artificial light needed.
“We are so proud to have been a part of 1 West Park Avenue. Projects of 1 West Park’s architectural quality and for a client like Bouhan Falligant don’t come along often,” said Matt West, president of West Construction Company. “The project was built safely, ahead of schedule, and under budget, despite the logistical challenges of working in downtown Savannah and Hurricane Matthew striking our area while we were in the midst of steel erection. None of that would have been possible without the diligence and teamwork put forth by Bouhan Falligant, Felder Associates, Thomas and Hutton, and our team of vendors and trade contractors. This was teamwork in the truest definition, and we are grateful to be a part of Bouhan Falligant’s distinguished history.”
Bouhan Falligant, which celebrated its 130th year in business last year, handles a broad range of complex legal matters in litigation, estate planning, corporate law, commercial and residential real estate, bankruptcy, and admiralty and maritime law. In addition to their unwavering commitment to the law, Bouhan Falligant attorneys also care deeply about the community where they live and work, and volunteer thousands of hours of service to almost every major nonprofit in this area each year.
