Telfair Museums announced that Georgia Governor Nathan Deal and his wife, First Lady Sandra Deal, will serve as Honorary Chairs of the 38th Annual Telfair Ball on February 24, 2018 at Telfair Museums. 2018 Ball Chairs, Alva and Chip Compton stated, “We are so grateful to have Governor Deal and his wife join us in the Hostess city for this annual fundraising gala, and look forward to showing them a true gem in the Georgia landscape.”  The 2018 Telfair Ball theme is The Sea Islands which celebrates the beauty and history of the more than 100 islands spanning from South Carolina to Florida.

Since taking office in 2011, Gov. Nathan Deal has led Georgia to become leading state in the nation for business for five years in a row - a first in Georgia history - and helped create more than 650,000 private sector jobs.

First Lady Sandra Deal travels the State of Georgia as an educator, author, historian, volunteer, and forever learner. As Georgia’s First Lady, Mrs. Deal promotes community service, volunteerism, and literacy initiatives alongside her husband of 51 years.

“Telfair Museums is the oldest public art museum in the South and is a cornerstone of Georgia’s cultural foundation,” added Alva Compton. “We all feel very honored to host the governor and his wife as honorary chairs of the Ball.”

This prestigious annual gala is the largest annual fundraiser for the museum with proceeds from the Telfair Ball directly funding the museum’s educational and outreach efforts, exhibitions, and other related programs. “The Ball is a Savannah tradition that allows the Telfair to offer over 325 free outreach programs to children, families, veterans, seniors and the underserved in our community,” said Alva Compton.
