The third annual Identity Management Day takes place on April 11, 2023, because according to the Identity Defined Security Alliance (IDSA), “Cybersecurity incidents involving compromised credentials continue to be the most common cause of a data breach for enterprises and account takeover for individuals.”  

IDSA reports “84% of organizations have suffered an identity-related breach in the last year, with 78% reporting a direct impact on the business” from a recent study. In addition, “22% of US households have been a victim of account takeover, with an average financial loss of $12,000.”  

What’s more, Dashlane, a password manager and digital wallet app, reports that “the average internet user currently has 240 online accounts that require a password.”  

Think of how many employees you have. Think of how many friends and family members you are connected to through various networks and online services like email. Now think of the odds that every single one of those people is using proper password hygiene and multifactor authentication to protect every single one of their 240 accounts.
