J.C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center, a nonprofit organization providing affordable health care services to individuals in the Savannah community, commemorated its 15th anniversary at its headquarters located at 125 Fahm Street in Savannah on October 8, 2014. 

Over 100 guests were in attendance, including J.C. Lewis staff, Savannah dignitaries and community supporters, to celebrate the Center’s founding supporters and outstanding growth from its humble beginnings in 1999. Today, J.C. Lewis is a comprehensive medical facility providing primary medical, dental and behavioral health care services at an affordable rate to qualifying uninsured, under-insured, and homeless persons with limited income.

“To say we have come a long way is an understatement,” said Aretha Jones, CEO at J.C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center. “With the help of our dedicated staff and generous donors, the Center is able to provide critical health care services to thousands of patients each year. Without access to a place like J.C. Lewis, lives would be lost.” 

J.C. Lewis presented special awards to the following individuals and organizations in honor of their continued dedication and commitment to providing affordable healthcare: 

● The Volunteer Recognition Award - presented to Dr. Ray Rudolph, a retired breast surgeon and chairman of the breast disease management team at the Center for Breast Care at Memorial Health, for his 12 years of volunteer services working with the patients and staff at J. C Lewis;

● The J.C. Lewis Award was presented to Dr. Gerald Kramer, director of dental services at Coastal State Prison and Georgia Department of Corrections, for his extraordinary service, advocacy and dedication to the patients and staff of the J.C. Lewis Primary Health Care Dental Center; 

● The Health Star Award was presented to the J.C. Lewis Foundation in grateful appreciation for its continued charitable contributions to the J.C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center.
