Urban Hope Announces Inaugural Event, Pee Wee Rodeo

Press release from the issuing company

Thursday, November 20th, 2014

Urban Hope is excited to announce its inaugural event of the Pee Wee Rodeo, a fund raiser that will benefit Urban Hope’s after school and summer camp programs that are free for inner city children. This event was created to give area children a chance to explore their inner rodeo champion, celebrate their joy for life and spend the day enjoying the farm.

“The pee wee rodeo is a very common event in Texas,” explains Cassie Beckwith, Chair of the Pee Wee Rodeo and Urban Hope’s Board. “My Dad is a rodeo participant and as a child we were regular rodeo attendees. The rodeo life is unique and one that many children will never experience. Most children classify cowboys and cowgirls in the same way as Spider-Man and princesses: characters we dress up as and aspire to be like. However, cowboys and cowgirls do exist.”

The Pee Wee Rodeo will be an event for children of all ages. Children age 2-9 will be able to participate in rodeo events using a stick horse. These events will include horse races, barrel races and boot races. Children can also explore Red Gate Farms, visit the farm animals, take pony rides, do arts and crafts with Scribble Art Studio, ride the mechanical bull (adults welcome also!), and see performances by Colt the Rodeo Clown. The barn will be dedicated as the “kiddie corral” for children under 2. There will be food and drinks available for purchase from Armstrong State University’s Navigator Grill, Thomas “the hot dog man”, Leopold’s Ice Cream, and Kona Ice.

Urban Hope would like to thank the Champion Sponsor, Moves with a Purpose. “The Moves With A Purpose Team at Keller Williams is keenly interested in strengthening our local community, and there’s no better place to start than with Savannah’s youth,” states Matthew Allan, Principal at Moves with a Purpose. “Urban Hope is doing great work by giving kids an opportunity to improve their future and we applaud and support the work they are doing and I am excited to take my own kids to the Pee Wee Rodeo.”
