UGA SBDC at Georgia Southern Relocates to City Campus, Joins Business Innovation Group

The Georgia Southern University Small Business Development Center (SBDC), currently located in the Market District on Fair Rd. is relocating to the City Campus in downtown Statesboro, 58 East Main St. 

Beginning January 1, 2015, the SBDC will operate from City Campus as part of the Business Innovation Group (BIG). BIG will consist of the Center for Entrepreneurial Learning and Leadership (CELL), which includes GENIE, a virtual incubator linking small businesses in rural Georgia to resources at Georgia Southern, the Innovation Incubator and Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab), the Bureau of Business Research and Economic Development (BBRED), and the SBDC; all are part of the Georgia Southern University College of Business Administration. 

Becky Brownlee, SBDC business consultant, says, “We are excited to be joining CELL and BBRED in beautiful downtown Statesboro at City Campus. We will continue to see clients as normal at the new location.”

"Having all of the components of the Business Innovation Group located at the City Campus will enable us to enhance services to the region's entrepreneurship and business community," says Dominique Halaby, director for BBRED and CELL. "The relocation of the SBDC is a key component of our effort to create a business and community development hub for the region."

The SBDC serves for-profit businesses in a 13 county area surrounding Statesboro and includes Bulloch, Liberty, Candler, Screven, Emanuel, Tattnall, Evans, Toombs, Jenkins, Montgomery, Effingham, Chatham, and Bryan counties. 

A part of Georgia Southern’s College of Business Administration and The Georgia Small Business Development Center Network, the SBDC provides consulting assistance on a variety of topics that includes writing business plans, applying for loans or other financial assistance, QuickBooks, and marketing. In addition to consulting assistance, the SBDC provides continuing education programs on Starting a Business, QuickBooks, Marketing, Business Planning, and more.
