West Rehab & Sports Medicine Launches New Company Division, West Works Program

Press release from the issuing company

Friday, January 30th, 2015

As leading providers of physical therapy, sports medicine and personal training services, West Rehab & Sports Medicine recently launched the company’s West Works Program, a return-to-work program that helps companies save on costs related to workplace injuries and illnesses.

A recent national study actually put a price tag on occupational injuries and illnesses at an eye-watering $250 billion. This staggering figure includes the cost of lost workdays, worker’s compensation claims, medical bills, staff replacement and retraining, and losses in productivity and quality.

The West Works Program focuses on helping people heal and return to work in a way that minimizes lost time, prevents de-conditioning, reduces chronic illness and recurrence, avoids extended work conditioning programs and provides systems for accountability.

“Unfortunately, even with all of the proper training and prevention policies in place, workplace injuries are at times unavoidable,” said Brian West, West Rehab co-founder and owner. “It’s in these instances that a proactive approach to employee rehabilitation is essential to counteract the debilitating direct and indirect costs businesses absorb due to workplace injuries.”

West Works helps businesses significantly lower their health care costs related to occupational injuries and illnesses by working directly with a team of West Rehab health care providers (versus a third-party system) trained in industrial ergonomics and industrial therapy to create and implement a solid in-house prevention plan, which includes the following components:

  • Functional Job Analysis to identify the employee’s ability to perform the duties required in the job description;

  • Pre-work Screening and Functional Capacity Evaluation to determine the ability of the injured employee to safely perform the functional tasks of a specific job;

  • On-site Physical and Occupational Therapy to help restore employee functionality within the work environment; and

  • Capacity Ratings to regularly report treatment progress, extent of employee disability and timeline of when they may return to the workplace.
