GDOL to Help MV Transportation Hire 400 Workers in Savannah

The Georgia Department of Labor will help MV Transportation hire 400 school bus drivers and monitors for the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System Wednesday, June 3.

The recruitment will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the GDOL’s Savannah Career Center, 5520 White Bluff Road.

All applicants must be at least 21 years old. Applicants for the driver positions must have an A or B commercial driver’s license with full passenger and school endorsement. They must also have two years of commercial driving experience and pass a physical examination, background check and drug screening test.  The starting pay is $13.25 per hour depending on experience.

Applicants for the monitor positions must be able to complete school bus aide training and have a cardiopulmonary resuscitating (CPR) certification. They must also pass a physical examination, background check and drug screening test. A first aid certification is also preferred, but not required.  The starting pay is $11.15 per hour depending on experience.

A high school diploma, or General Education Diploma (GED), is preferred for both positions.
