On Saturday, October 24, 2015, the Statesboro-Bulloch County Breast Cancer Foundation will host a salon war and fashion show called Tresses & Dresses from 6-8 p.m. at the Ogeechee Technical College Occupational Studies building.

The Tresses & Dresses event is designed to bring awareness to breast cancer in the Statesboro-Bulloch County community, while creating friendly competition among local salons. Eighteen salon stylists will have the opportunity to “makeover” a lady who is willing to donate her hair to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths program. The Beautiful Lengths program allows women to donate eight inches of their hair to other women who are battling cancer and creates free, real-hair wigs for cancer patients. Each participant will be judged. First place stylist will receive $500 and the makeover client a $250 MedSpa certificate from Statesboro Plastic Surgery. Second and third place stylists will also be announced and receive prizes of $250 and $100, respectively. The salon with the most hair donated will win lunch on behalf of the Statesboro-Bulloch County Breast Cancer Foundation.

One of the sponsors, Walker Boutique, will also stage a fashion show during the salon war featuring their clothes, styling breast cancer survivors with the latest fall and winter fashion trends of the year. If you are a breast cancer survivor and would like to participate in the fashion show, please email [email protected].

Tickets to the event will be $5.00 and are available at our sponsoring locations: Statesboro Plastic Surgery, Walker Pharmacy and Walker Home Medical. Salon War participation is $25. Direct sellers and craft vendors are invited to present products for an entry fee of $50, and all proceeds of the event will go back to the SBCBCF to assist regional breast cancer patients and their families.

Following the Tresses & Dresses event, there will be an after party with live entertainment by David Morin, a Vegas Elvis impersonator. Considered “A Man of Many Voices,” Mr. Morin covers artists such as Bobby Darin, Jerry Lee Lewis, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, among many others. David, along with his band, The TCB Band, currently plays at weddings, anniversaries and special events. Tickets to the after party event will be sold separately for $25 per ticket. Tickets may be purchased through Eventbrite at www.elvisrockstheboro.eventbrite.com.
