Felder & Associates has been selected as the architectural firm for the highly anticipated new restaurant, Atlantic. Located at the corner of Drayton Street and Victory Drive, the new neighborhood eatery is the brainchild of Jason and Jennifer Restivo. Their concept for the restaurant includes sharing small dishes with friends and family in a casual setting. Jason Restivo was previously with Garibaldi.

“The general contractor, Jimmy Smith with JTVS Builders, introduced me to Jason and Jennifer to discuss the design concept, and we were all in agreement on the direction for the architectural design,” said Brian Felder, managing principal of Felder & Associates. “This has been a good fit for our team and most importantly, a highly creative and collaborative process for all involved.”

The Restivo’s good friend and designer, Elizabeth Demos, is also playing a key role in the design process, introducing materials, colors, textures, furnishings and fixtures. Felder stated that Demos’ decorative direction for the space has been an invaluable contribution as his team moves forward with planning the architectural elements for the existing building.

The building dates back to 1936, when it was the Atlantic Refining Co. Gas Station. More recently the building was a nondescript dental office. To honor the building’s unique history, the exterior plan incorporates subtle cues from the former gas station. According to Felder, there will be ample outdoor seating for patrons to enjoy al fresco dining.

Felder & Associates have received numerous awards and honors for their architectural work on Savannah’s hottest new restaurant, The Grey. The Savannah firm preserved the distinct features of the former bus depot on Martin Luther King Boulevard by selecting modern materials that complement the historical features of the building.

Felder anticipates another successful transformation for the former gas station. Atlantic opens next spring and promises to be a unique dining addition to the Savannah restaurant scene.
