New World-Class Music Venue to Announce Home in Downtown Savannah

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Wednesday, November 30th, 2016

On Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. (in the Community Room at the Mariner Grover Apartment Complex on East President Street in Savannah, GA) Savannah Music Depot, LLC will announce the February 2017 opening of its much anticipated The Stage on Bay, Savannah’s Concert Venue.  The Stage on Bay has garnered tremendous excitement within business circles since its founding principals (and long-time industry veterans) first began their Savannah location search this past March.

The founders’ goal has been to advance Savannah’s potential within the music industry, deriving in part from its vibrant nightlife and tourism, as well as its proximity to Atlanta, Charleston and Jacksonville…the ideal location for talent traveling to, from, and throughout the southeast.

With the announcement scheduled for Thursday, December 1st at 1:00 P.M., CEO Charlie Schmitt will layout The Stage’s plans for bringing live, world-class multi-platinum touring artists from all genres of the music and entertainment industry to Savannah.  The conference is open to all members of the press and will include the announcement of several national headline shows scheduled and confirmed to perform in Savannah in early 2017 at The Stage on Bay.

Along with the announcement of those acts already booked for the first three months at The Stage on Bay, the principals will provide insight into the development of the new music venue located at 1200 West Bay Street.

The principals, including but not limited to Charles Schmitt and Stuart Green have more than 70 years of collective experience in the music and entertainment industry.  Green is a well-established promoter who has produced hundreds of major concerts across New York and Pennsylvania since 1978, his latest being Bruce Springsteen and AC/DC, among others.  Schmitt, an entertainment and business attorney out of Jacksonville, FL, has held senior executive positions at the National Football League, National Hockey League and PGA Tour.  He also founded The Voices of Classic Rock, a live ensemble that has performed more than 150 concerts on four continents, featuring the original lead singers of Starship, Toto, Loverboy, Survivor, and John Cafferty, among others.
