Prepared Childbirth Saturday Session

9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 4, at Memorial University Medical Center

This full-day course gives an overview of reproductive anatomy and physiology and explains the process of labor and delivery in simple, easy-to-understand terms. It is designed for parents who live outside of Savannah or have schedules that make it difficult to attend weekday classes. This course includes a tour of the labor and delivery unit. Look Good, Feel Better

2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, March 6, Conference Room, Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center

This free makeover program, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, is for women going through cancer treatment. The program includes education on skin changes, hair loss, makeup application, wigs, and head covers. Yoga for Cancer Patients and Survivors

6:30 p.m., Tuesdays, and 12:45 p.m., Thursdays, FitnessOne, 3rd floor of the Memorial Outpatient & Wellness Center, Memorial University Medical Center

These weekly yoga classes are free for cancer survivors and those in treatment. The classes help with flexibility and balance while also providing relaxation. The instructor is Yoga Alliance registered with more than 200 hours of training, including specialized yoga training for cancer survivors at OM Yoga in New York. Prostate Cancer Support Group: Man to Man

6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, Conference Room of the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center

This group is for men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and their caregivers. The group provides a variety of educational and support programs. Greater Savannah Area Breast Cancer Support Group

4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, March 12, in the lobby of the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center

The meetings are open to breast cancer patients and their caregivers in the greater Savannah, Hilton Head, and Coastal Georgia area. The meetings often have special presentations from the local medical community, are informal, and are conducted in a discussion format to encourage participation by all in attendance. American Red Cross Blood Drive

2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday, March 13, Blood Donor Room at Memorial University Medical Center

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at Memorial University Medical Center from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the blood donor room, located by the Medical Center Pharmacy. Mended Hearts

11 a.m. to noon., Wednesday March 15, Cardiac Rehab Conference Room in the Heart and Vascular Institute at Memorial University Medical Center

Mended Hearts is the largest cardiovascular peer-to-peer support network in the world. Volunteers will be trained to visit heart patients in the hospital and organize support groups. The chapter meets from 11 a.m. to noon on the third Wednesday of every month in the Cardiac Rehab Conference Room in the Heart & Vascular Institute at Memorial University Medical Center. Head and Neck Cancer Support Group

1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday March 22, Conference Room of the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center

This group is open to individuals with cancers of the head and neck area and their caregivers. At the meetings, we will have a brief discussion from experts in the treatment of head and neck cancer and allow time for group discussion. For more information, please call Suzy Buelvas at 912-350-7845.

Basic Breastfeeding Class

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, Memorial University Medical Center

This two-hour session is designed to educate and support the mother planning to breastfeed. Topics include information on preparing to breastfeed, basic breastfeeding concepts, nutrition, and a discussion of common concerns. Issues such as family support for the breastfeeding mother, the father’s role in feeding, and how to breastfeed and continue to work are also covered. Your support person is encouraged to attend.
