The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa is pleased to announce that construction of its premier meeting and event space located at The Club at Savannah Harbor will be complete this month.  Named in honor of longtime friend of the resort and community leader Benjamin M. Tucker, the pavilion will be officially opened at an unveiling ceremony and tribute concert on April 23rd, 2017.

While Tucker played on albums with Quincy Jones, B.B. King, and Dexter Gordon, he was much more than a famed American jazz bassist who appeared on hundreds of recordings.  Ben was a legendary jazz musician, community icon, and benevolent spirit whose smile opened doors and established friendships all over the world. Community engagement was his creed and the synergy he contributed to schools, youth organizations and adult learning, colleges, churches, and community business, was a part of his life's work.

The Charleston-based Event Haus Rentals designed The Benjamin M. Tucker Pavilion to offer panoramic views of the region’s best golf course and club house while providing space for up to 150 seated or 200 reception guests.  The glass enclosure and associated heating and cooling systems provide climate controlled comfort perfect for events in any season.  The new space is poised to be the perfect venue for lowcountry weddings, group gatherings, golf tournament receptions and much more.

As a close friend of the resort, Ben’s gregarious personality and talents could be seen every week at The Westin Savannah Harbor’s Sunday Jazz Brunch and his passion for helping others found a home within Savannah Harbor Foundation. To honor Ben’s legacy, The Westin is proud to partner with The Coastal Jazz Association to unveil The Benjamin M. Tucker Pavilion with one of their favorite annual events: The 31st Annual Tribute to Duke Ellington Concert, this year featuring Richie Cole.
