Staff Report From Savannah CEO

CS Hurd Electrical Contracting, based in Richmond Hill, Ga., is set to host their very first business networking event, Business & Brews, on April 26 to honor Autism Awareness Month. CS Hurd has invited the community, customers, and autism advocates to join for the fundraiser that will benefit F.R.I.E.N.D.S. of Coastal Ga., a local organization that provides summer camp and social skills services for children and young adults with autism. The FRIENDS organization serves Savannah, Richmond Hill, Swainsboro, and now Hinesville.

“We are thrilled to partner with such a deserving organization, FRIENDS of Coastal Ga. FRIENDS embodies the heart of one woman on a mission to be a champion for their autistic family member. In a retrospect, we are all on a mission individually and quite often feel like we’re sailing our ships alone, stated Melissa Hurd, president of CS Hurd.

The event is scheduled to be packed full of excitement including an autism dedicated photo series by Christine Hall, silent auction, raffle, and live entertainment by a surprise headliner. Dark Shark Taco Truck will be on site as well selling their delicious bites for patrons in the beer garden.

“The event idea came about naturally after speaking to Christine Hall about her ‘personal bucket list,’ which included hosting an event and gallery opening to benefit autism. We both heard great things about the FRIENDS organization and after meeting Maranda Porter in person, we knew she was the fit as the event beneficiary. It’s important for us as a company to stay engaged with our community beyond our business and that’s what we’re hoping to do,” said Hurd.

Business & Brews will be held April 26 from 6-9 p.m. at Service Brewing Company located at 574 Indian Street. Discounted tickets are still available for pre-purchase before the event for $35. Ticket prices increase on event day. Tickets grant entrance to brewery, a tasting, tour, and live entertainment. Raffle tickets are $10 and anyone unable to attend can make an open donation by clicking www.businessandbrewsnetworking.eventbrite.com CS Hurd has created an event page on Facebook dedicated to event updates and real stories of families in our community living with an autistic loved one. The stories are meant to inspire and encourage others to remain steadfast in their journey.
