Hotel Indigo Savannah Historic District, a boutique hotel located at 201 West Bay St. in the vibrant City Market area of downtown Savannah, is pleased to announce it was the recent recipient of two major industry awards.

In May, Hotel Indigo was honored as an Historic Savannah Foundation 2017 Preservation Award winner. This annual award recognizes individuals and organizations demonstrating excellence in historic preservation. The evaluation criteria that HSF Preservation Awards are judged upon include quality of work, degree of difficulty, and the positive impacts a project, individual or organization brings to the surrounding community.

“This year’s honorees are the best of the best in historic preservation and are true advocates of HSF’s core values of advocacy, education and community involvement,” said Daniel Carey, president and CEO of Historic Savannah Foundation. “We’re pleased to celebrate their accomplishments in honoring and preserving the unique structures and stories that are so integral to our community.”

Noble Investment Group opened the 252-room Hotel Indigo Savannah Historic District, which is managed by InterContinental Hotels Group, in March 2016. Designed to inspire at every turn, the former Guckenheimer Building (circa 1851) was returned to its original historic shell, preserving century-old materials and historic details, which were in turn incorporated into the unexpected and unique design elements of Savannah’s newest hotel.

“After a $20 million makeover, great care was taken to mirror the dynamic and vibrant neighborhood of Savannah’s Historic District in every aspect of the hotel experience. From the art on the walls to the locally-inspired and sourced menu selections at the Five Oaks Taproom,  you can’t help but feel inspired to discover something new and unique when you walk through the hotel’s doors,” said Hotel Indigo Savannah General Manager Michael Cooper.

In addition, Hotel Indigo was also honored by Connect Savannah as “Best New Hotel” and was featured in the city newspaper’s 2017 Best of Savannah Awards special edition published in May 2017.

“This award was truly special for us as it was voted on by Connect Savannah readers and those who love the Hotel Indigo brand and appreciate the unique value we bring to Savannah’s downtown area and her visitors,” said Cooper.
