Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Thursday, June 8th, 2017

Please join Lind Hollingsworth for the closing of her exhibit of paintings “Looking Back, Moving Forward” from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, June 10 at La Terra Natural Oils, 1520 Bull St. in downtown Savannah. Until the show closes, the artist has offered to donate 10 percent of proceeds from this exhibit to Ogeechee Riverkeeper. In addition, Ogeechee Riverkeeper employees will staff an information table at La Terra from 1-3 p.m. June 10.

This exhibit portrays work from Hollingsworth’s almost 20 years of artistry, including her early work as well as experimental pieces. She is a painter who works in mixed media, interspersing it with her personal style to create what she calls “relief paintings.” Using paper, mat board and spackling, Hollingsworth builds a scene “in relief” to which she adds paint, maps, photo transfers and found objects. She captures the character of the Southeastern United States through focusing on the juxtaposition of the fortitude of nature and human consumption.

Hollingsworth opened The Art School, providing after school lessons for youth, figure drawing sessions and art lessons for adults from 2000-07. In addition to serving on Ogeechee Riverkeeper’s Board of Directors she currently teaches classes in painting and drawing at The Studio School in Savannah and works as an adjunct instructor at Columbia College, teaching art appreciation and art history at Hunter Army Airfield and Fort Stewart.

The proceeds donated from this exhibit will help promote the Ogeechee Riverkeeper’s mission to protect, preserve and improve the water quality of the Ogeechee River basin.

“We are grateful to Mrs. Hollingsworth not only for choosing to donate proceeds from this exhibit to our organization, but also for her continued support in all facets as a board member,” said Luke Roberson, Ogeechee Riverkeeper’s outreach and water quality specialist.
