Companies may have a strategic plan but miss a key step by not having their employees connected to the strategy. Business owners and company leaders can learn more about connecting people to the strategy by attending the Savannah Downtown Business Association’s luncheon on Wednesday, July 12 featuring “How HR can connect people to strategy” from guest speaker Suzanne Kirk, MS, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, President and HR Consultant with Employee Development Strategies, Inc. at the Charles H. Morris Center at Trustees Garden 10 East Broad Street. Networking begins at 11:30AM and lunch is at 12PM.

The event is open to the public and the deadline to register is Friday, July 7 Cost is $25 for SDBA members and $40 for non-members. If space permits after the deadline, cost will be $35 for SDBA members and $45 for non-members.

Established in 2011, Employee Development Strategies, Inc. is a human resources and organizational development consulting firm. Kirk’s role includes working with clients to ensure their HR practices embody their organizational culture, vision and business objectives by aligning performance management processes with business strategies. From employee handbooks, job descriptions, performance evaluations and coaching processes to employee orientation programs, custom training, and employee relations, Kirk helps clients focus on the people side of business. She is a dynamic facilitator of board retreats, strategic planning sessions and custom learning programs for all audiences.

Her previous work experience include serving as Director of HR Services at a level-one trauma center teaching hospital and as Associate Director of Global Learning and Development for a Boston-based marketing and technology professional services firm. KIrk holds a Master’s degree in HR Management & Development and is SPHR and is SHRM-SCP Certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources. She is a certified administrator of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, the Leadership Versatility Index and the CPI260 managerial assessment. Kirk was a featured speaker at the 2016 national SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) conference in Washington, DC, which hosted over 15,000 attendees from over 90 countries. In 2017, she will serve as facilitator for her fifth year in partnership with the Leadership Southeast Georgia program.
