Union Mission recently announced it received furniture and hygiene donations from The DeSoto Hotel. The DeSoto, a 127-year-old hotel currently undergoing renovations, will officially re-emerge from construction on Aug. 1.

“We are very grateful for the donation of furniture and hygiene items by The DeSoto,” said LaMonica Graham, housing program manager for Grace House. “We will be using the banquet chairs in the dining hall of the Grace House and the hygiene items will go assist people who are coming in to one of our shelter programs or those still living unsheltered.”

Grace House is Union Mission’s oldest emergency services program still in operation. Opened in 1987, it offers immediate temporary housing and supportive services for those most in need. Grace House is located at 120 Fahm Street, right next to the Chatham Area Transit station.
