Tybee Christmas Cabaret to Feature Broadway Entertainer, Savannah Songstress

Tybee Post Theater is slated to present its annual Christmas Holiday Celebration with the inaugural “Tybee’s Christmas Cabaret,” hosted by Broadway entertainer and part-time Tybee resident Jim Wann and Savannah’s premiere songstress, Kim Polote. This high-energy, fun-filled event will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 at the Tybee Post Theater, 10 Van Home Ave., on Tybee Island.

Tybee’s inaugural Christmas Cabaret will feature old favorites and some new tunes, which will fill the theater with holiday cheer. Jim Wann and Kim Polote will be joined by an all-star band of local performers directed by Steven Bryan on keyboards, Phil MacDonald on bass, Bobby Hanson on harmonica, Steffens Clark on guitar, and some surprise guests.

From classics such as “Baby, It's Cold Outside,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” and spiritual songs, such as “Go Tell It On The Mountain,” this evening is sure to get everyone is the holiday spirit. This musical holiday celebration will include Fully Invested, a Savannah-based barbershop quartet as well the youth chorus from Tybee Island Maritime Academy.

Wann, who lives on Tybee for part of each year, is a renowned composer, songwriter and performer who supports and participates in several Savannah-based musical organizations, including the American Traditions Vocal Competition and the Savannah Philharmonic.

Polote studied at Armstrong Atlantic State University and works as a professional vocalist, songwriter, musician and producer. She is well-known Savannah vocalist and in 2001 she won the American Traditions Vocal Competition Gold Medal at the Lucas Theatre.

“I am thrilled to take the stage alongside Kim, who is such a talented performer, while spreading holiday cheer around the town that I know and love so dearly,” Wann said. “I know that each of our performers are also looking forward to getting in the holiday spirit with their community.”
