The Small Business Assistance Corporation of Savannah has selected Brett Goodwin, Bernard Williams & Company’s Vice President of Commercial Lines, to lead its Loan Committee. Goodwin has volunteered for SBAC for several years and this will be the second year heading the Loan Committee.

SBAC is certified by the U.S. Treasury Department as a Community Development Financial Institution. The Savannah SBAC provides loans and technical assistance for new and existing businesses in Southeast Georgia and the South Carolina Low Country.

“Volunteering to help others is always rewarding, but working on SBAC’s Loan Committee is something special. I enjoy helping entrepreneurs obtain the required funding to open their small business, especially if there might not otherwise be any funding options,” Goodwin explained. “Serving on the Loan Committee is very rewarding and helps to build and strengthen our local community,” he added.

Goodwin earned a degree in Finance from the University of Georgia and has a CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters) designation. He joined Bernard Williams & Company in 2003 and his previous experience includes working at John Hancock in Atlanta.
