SCORE, the nation’s largest provider of free business mentoring services to aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners, announced today that the Savannah Chapter of SCORE has been awarded a $5,000 grant to create “The Savannah SCORE Board”, a Shark Tank-style contest to help encourage entrepreneurship and the creation of new small businesses in the Savannah area.

Steve Records, National Vice President of Field Operations of SCORE, said “We are proud of the contributions Savannah SCORE has made to Savannah’s small business community and are excited about the positive impact “The Savannah SCORE Board” will have on the creation of new businesses and new jobs in the area.”

“The Savannah SCORE Board” will be a citywide competition to identify local entrepreneurs with innovative ideas for new products or services and help them turn these ideas into viable new businesses.  Savannah SCORE will be a primary sponsor of the event but will be seeking governmental, corporate and private partners/sponsors to help organize and launch the event.  The details of the competition will be published soon.

Michael Siegel, Chapter Chair of Savannah SCORE, said “We are honored to receive this grant and look forward to partnering with other Savannah-based business organizations to bring this exciting event to Savannah’s small business community.”
