A local group of businesses are joining forces to honor Autism Awareness Month by hosting the 2nd Annual Business & Brews Networking Event from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Service Brewing Company, 574 Indian St, Savannah.

Presenting Sponsors include CS Hurd Electrical, EOM Operations, EOM Response, Christine Hall Photography, and HARDCORE Concrete. The event will include raffle opportunities, a large silent auction, and food. Funds raised from this event will be awarded to SD Gunner Fund, a local non-profit organization that provides service animals for military veterans and children with special needs.

“We had an idea last year of hosting a networking event that would positively impact the businesses of our area tradesmen and raise funds for local Autism organizations,” said Bree Thomas, Event Organizer & Director of Marketing for CS Hurd Electrical Contracting stated. “We are thrilled to name SD Gunner as this year’s recipient of our fundraiser. The work they have done in such a small period of time is a testament to their dedication to serve our military veterans and children with special needs in our area.”

In four short years, the SD Gunner Fund has trained and placed over 40 dogs. SD Gunner has also provided service dogs to implement into Special Education classrooms in the community. The service dogs at SD Gunner are professionally trained to meet the individual needs of their partner to support variations in mobility, hearing, psychiatric, and brain/neurological disabilities.
