Ogeechee Technical College Opticianry Students Hosts Speaker

Opticianry students at Ogeechee Technical College, recently hosted a speaker, B. W. Phillips, Jr., FCLSA.  Specializing in keratoconus, post-surgical corneas, traumatic injuries, and pediatric contact lens fitting, Phillips serves as International Education Product Specialist for SynergEyes, a major lens manufacturer, and is a lens fitter by contract for clinics and doctors.

Phillips was past President of the Contact Lens Society of America, Past Chairman for the North Carolina State Board of Opticians, and a Rigid Gas Permeable Lens Institute Advisory Board Member. Manager of Duke University Eye Center’s Contact Lens Service from 1991 through 2008, he continues as a frequent educator/lecturer to ophthalmologists, optometrists and opticians at national and international events, and is published regularly in leading contact lens newsletters and magazines. Most recently, he was appointed by the Opticians Association of America to the National Contact Lens Certification committee.
