Senior Citizens Inc. Announces Honorees for the Legends, Leaders, and Life Well Lived Award Luncheon

Senior Citizens, Inc., a local non-profit dedicated to helping people age successfully, is pleased to announce the recipients of the “Legends, Leaders, and Life Well Lived Award”.  Nominated by the public for the inspirational way in which they have impacted their community and they way they exemplified a “life well lived”, the Awardees will be honored at the Inaugural “Legends, Leaders, and Life Well Lived Award” luncheon at noon on Friday, May 11, 2018.  Georgia Power is the presenting sponsor of the event.

According to Patti Lyons, President of SCI, “Having a life well lived is our organization’s vision which is why we work each day to provide and link people to the services and resources they need to age successfully. The leaders whose lives we are celebrating with this award are a tangible example of a life well lived. We invite the public to join us in honoring these three outstanding individuals for the contributions they have made to improve the lives of others,” said Lyons.

Dr. Annette K. Brock:

Native Savannahian and former acting President and professor emerita at Savannah State University (SSU) Dr. Brock is the Chair of the King-Tisdell Cottage Foundation Inc., a founding member of the Savannah Council on World Affairs, and an active (past and present) board member for several local organizations.

Irene L. Johnson:

An educator and social worker, Ms. Johnson is a lifelong resident of Savannah who continues to be an active volunteer in several ministries and organizations following her retirement from a 26 year career at the Coastal Center for Developmental Services (now Employability).

Col. Edward Wexler (Retired):

The 2017-2018 Chatham County Veteran of the Year, Colonel Wexler remained in Savannah following his retirement from the Air Force and Georgia Air National Guard; as one of the founders of Honor Flight Savannah, he has long been dedicated to improving the active and veteran military community.
