Mitchell Named OTC Distinguished Alumni

Jeffery D. Mitchell, a 2001 Ogeechee Technical College graduate, was recently named Ogeechee Technical College’s 2018 Distinguished Alumni winner at the annual alumni reception held at the College. This award is presented to an Ogeechee Tech alum who graduated prior to 2005, excelled in their chosen field, attained prominence, and has had a positive effect on the local, regional, or state level.

Mitchell is a graduate of Ogeechee Tech’s Computer Information Systems program. Upon graduation, he began his career in information systems and networking at Georgia Southern University as a PC Support Specialist. His career continued when he was hired as the Senior Information Systems Specialist for AgSouth Farm Credit in 2003. Mitchell has also served as the Facilities Manager for AgSouth since 2017 and assisted with the networking infrastructure for the new facility in Statesboro.

A native of Millen, GA, Mitchell grew up on his family’s timber farm. He and his wife, Leah, have two children, Walker, six and Drew, one. He is a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church where he serves as a member of the Deacon Board. He volunteers with the Statesboro and Bulloch County Fire Departments, and as a volunteer coach with the Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department. He enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, sporting clay tournaments, and coaching his son in various sports.
