Felder & Associates, a Savannah architecture and design firm, has been named as a Silver Winner in the 2018 Brick in Architecture Awards program. Felder was recognized in the commercial category for its work on the Bouhan Falligant building at 1 West Park Ave.

Felder served as the design firm for the structure that anchors the south end of Savannah’s Forsyth Park and is the new home for the city’s oldest law firm.

“It is an honor to receive national recognition from our industry peers on this team effort,” said Brian Felder, managing principal of Felder & Associates. “We researched the design and construction details of several comparable historic buildings in Savannah in developing this project and determined that brick was the right selection and the best medium to achieve the desired outcome. Our partners Palmetto Brick Company, Cornerstone Masonry and West Construction were instrumental in the success of the project. Utilizing our very detailed drawings, Cornerstone Masonry’s crews of masons executed their work with a high degree of skill and accuracy.”

Each year, the Brick Industry Association (BIA) recognizes the country’s most visionary projects that incorporate fired-clay brick. This year, 19 projects were selected from 88 entries, spanning commercial, educational, landscaping and residential categories.

Founded in 1934, BIA is the nationally recognized authority on clay brick construction representing the nation’s distributors and manufacturers of clay brick and suppliers of related products.

The 2018 award recipients will be featured in the December issue of Architect magazine.
