Libby Nesmith was recently named Ogeechee Technical College’s 2018 Support Staff Person of the Year. The Support Staff Person of the Year Award recognizes and honors an employee who has made significant contributions to the mission and success of the College.  

Nesmith started working at the College in October 2016 as a Student Affairs Assistant, before her current position as Financial Aid Specialist.  One of Libby’s nominations read, “Libby is always there to help when you need her. She goes above and beyond for the students here at OTC. She puts the students first and makes sure their needs are met. She has such a happy and welcoming spirit that shines among the rest!”  Another nomination said, “Libby is always happy to help in any way that she can, even with things that are not in her department or part of her job description. She always has a smile on her face and treats all students, faculty, and staff with a warm, welcoming attitude. Libby in an awesome employee!” 

Of her role in financial aid, Libby said, “My role is to help students not only find ways to fund their education but to also be an advocate for them. The whole financial aid process is intimidating to all students, but especially daunting for our first generation students who don’t have anyone in their lives who knows or understands this process. I try to help students remove barriers so that they can achieve their dream of attending and graduating from our great college.”
