The seventh annual Savannah Man & Woman of the Year campaign wrapped up last night with a Grand Finale celebrating the hard work of eleven dynamic candidates who collectively raised $439,943 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) mission to find a cure for blood cancer and support patients and their families. Jarad Brown of Certainty Home Loans was named Man of the Year. He and his team, FUNd A Cure, raised $72,673. Sarah Lord of Hustle & Blow Dry Bar was named Woman of the Year. Her team, B+ (Be Positive), raised $33,926. The Man of the Year runner-up was Yash Desai of Stature Investments; and the Woman of the Year runner-up was Christina McIntosh of McIntosh Realty Group.

“The impact that these passionate and relentless Man & Woman of the Year candidates have made on the fight against cancer is outstanding. Combined with our 2019 Students of the Year total, the two campaigns collectively raised $910,565 bringing the Savannah cumulative total to over $3.4 million in the past seven years. We couldn’t be more proud of their accomplishments,” said Jennie Brewster, Area Director for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Georgia Chapter.

Every dollar the candidates raised counted as one “vote” and the candidates with the most votes were awarded the title Man & Woman of the Year. Woman of the Year, Sarah Lord, and Man of the Year, Jarad Brown, will now be entered into the national competition for Man & Woman of the Year, which will be named in July.  All the candidates competed in honor of LLS’s Boy & Girl of the Year, JD Fulcher and Michelle Camposano, local children who are blood cancer survivors and sources of inspiration to others.

The candidates were selected by a nominating committee co-chaired by Patrick McCarthy of Riverside Electric Company and Charles Anderson of Landsouth Design. “The Man & Woman of the Year campaign is a great opportunity for participants to meet other like-minded professionals raising money for an important cause,” said Patrick McCarthy, Leadership Team Co-Chair.  “We applaud the tireless efforts of these candidates and thank each of them for making such a significant difference in the lives of so many people.”
