Family Promise of Greater Savannah was recently awarded a $75,000 Chatham Community Blueprint Implementation Grant to fund their prevention program and serve outside municipalities previously not easily accessible such as Pooler, Port Wentworth, Tybee, Garden City, Wilmington Island and Whitemarsh Island.

Family Promise’s Homeless Assistance & Prevention Program identifies and coordinates a single point of entry by working with households at risk of becoming homeless, providing qualified applicants with utility and rental assistance. Family Promise is one of the few emergency shelters in the area that allows all members of the family to reside together, while working on their sufficiency plan. This grant will allow Family Promise the opportunity to assist more families and households in the Chatham County area with this homeless prevention program. The service, criteria, and eligibility will remain the same for these new districts.

“Now that we have additional funds, outside areas can now contact us for assistance,” said Family Promise of Greater Savannah Executive Director Katrina Bostick. “We are very thankful to Chatham County for this generous grant that will allow us to extend our reach and help more of our community’s in-need families.”

The application process for the Prevention Program is available on Family Promise of Greater Savannah’s website on Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Calls will not be accepted.

The Chatham Community Blueprint Implementation Grant was started to develop and prioritize the needs, goals, strategies and actions steps needed to implement change for the good of all of Chatham County. The Blueprint is a long-term plan for the Community. By focusing on the Community’s interests and concerns, the Blueprint serves as a catalyst for improvement.
