For the fourth consecutive year the National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of Georgia is orchestrating a defining Savannah event. The Annual Savannah Antiques and Architecture Weekend is a three-day series of presentations, tours, appraisals, a glittering gala, and a cocktail reception celebrating Savannah’s robust historic preservation efforts and its best-in-class examples of American architecture. The Society is a registered 501c3 organization and all proceeds from the events benefit two of the city’s nineteenth-century treasures, The Andrew Low House and The Green-Meldrim House.

This year’s theme, Down by the Riverside, focuses on Savannah’s Port and its history From Cobblestones
to Containers. The weekend on the Savannah River begins with a cocktail reception and tour of the spectacular new Plant Riverside District hosted by its visionary developer, Richard Kessler and architect Christian Sottile. Attendees will then experience Southern Hospitality at Home, the Art of Gracious Living at Friday’s luncheon with interior designer and author Susan Sully. Guests then hop aboard the “Georgia Queen” for Saturday’s Lunch-and-Learn Riverboat Cruise complete with a brass Dixieland Band and southern fare to discover the history of architecture along Savannah’s riverside. Saturday night’s Glittering Gala will honor Savannah Antiques and Architecture Weekend’s sponsors, speakers, appraisers and patrons at the Green - Meldrim House.

The keynote speaker, acclaimed author, photographer, and specialist in Southern architecture and design, Susan Sully, will also attend Friday evening’s exclusive cocktail reception and tour of a stunning private Savannah home featured in her book. Sully is a graduate of Yale University with a degree in art history focused in architectural studies, Sully has contributed articles to The New York Times, Town & Country Travel and Veranda.

Saturday’s What’s In Your Attic? event provides the opportunity for object valuations with renowned celebrity appraisers in the fields of antiques, decorative arts, and jewelry, Lark Mason, Amanda Everard and Jane Mullino. Collectors and curious-minds are invited to bring their personal treasures and heirlooms to discover their hidden gems.
