Savannah Technical College Selects Bullock as Dean of Adult Education

Savannah Technical College has selected Dr. Thomas H. Bullock as its Dean of Adult Education. He will manage adult education programs for individuals and employers throughout the College’s four-county service area (Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty counties). His other responsibilities include:

·         Administering instructional services for adult education students;

·         Promoting the adult education program to public and private organizations;

·         Preparing the specifications and managing the program budget;

·         Overseeing administration of assessment and student placement tests for adult education students;

·         Creating and maintaining a high performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation

Bullock earned his bachelor’s degree in physics from Xavier University in New Orleans, La. His graduate work has included engineering at Tulane University, mathematics at Georgetown University, and Teaching Mathematics at the University of the District of Columbia. Bullock earned his doctorate in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania.

As a mathematics professor, he taught undergraduate and graduate level courses at many universities. At Georgetown University, he served as founder and director of the Institute of College Preparation, and Assistant to the President, leading the university’s District of Columbia Educational Initiatives. His leadership and support of underrepresented students has won him esteemed recognition and national awards, including the prestigious recognition as a 2004 Washingtonian of the Year by Washingtonian Magazine.

At Georgia Southern University, he was the Retention Specialist for Armstrong Campus’ TRIO Student Support Services and served on the President’s Diversity Advisory Council. He serves as a Board member for numerous nonprofit organizations including (previously) the Savannah Technical College Foundation. Dr. Bullock is founder and CEO of the nonprofit organization LEADERS, Inc., which prepares undergraduate students for self-reliance, postgraduate opportunities, and leadership through the facilitation of, and exposure to, social and cultural competencies, professional development, and life skills.
