Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Friday, January 10th, 2020

Due to the ongoing community interest in obtaining university-accredited web development training, Georgia Tech-Savannah is hosting an information session about their upcoming 24-week Coding Bootcamp Program.

This informational session is designed for interested employers and students to learn about the Coding Bootcamp program, review the curriculum, hear about tuition reimbursement opportunities, and network with area coding professionals. It will be held on Tuesday, January 14th, from 6-8 p.m. at the Georgia Tech Professional Education Campus (210 Technology Cir, Savannah, GA 31407) and is free to the public, but space is limited. In order to attend, register at: http://bit.ly/GTPECodingOpenHouse.

The goal of the program is to teach students how to become qualified web developers. The Coding Boot Camp equips you with essential skills for today’s digital economy. With strategically engineered curricula, face-to-face interaction, and knowledgeable instructors, Georgia Tech-Savannah provides an educational experience that will help you find a path to success. The boot camp will cover everything from the basics of coding, algorithms and data structure, to intensive training in Javascript, Node.js, HTML, CSS, jQuery, C#, and more. In addition to learning in the classroom, students will spend 10-15 hours each week on outside projects and experiential learning activities to build a professional project portfolio that showcases their abilities to create web applications. Successful graduates will earn a Georgia Tech certificate in full stack development.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, web development ranks among the world’s fastest-growing professions, with jobs projected to increase at a 20 percent annual pace through 2022. The opportunities for skilled developers have long passed the labor supply: Of more than 150,000 new openings posted each year, some 50,000 go unfilled.

The Coding Boot Camp is designed with consideration of the schedules of working professionals and students. The class schedule consists of two three-hour evening classes during the week (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.) and a four-hour class on Saturdays (10 a.m. - 2 p.m.).
