Savannah Ballet Theatre (SBT) has announced that Jamie Maddox has been appointed to their Board of Directors. Maddox has proven experience and passion for helping children and families, and will join the organization in their educational outreach programs and promotion of dance within our community.

Maddox graduated with a BA in Child and Family Development from Georgia Southern University (GSU). She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from Savannah State University (SSU) and earned an induction into the Phi Alpha Alpha Honor Society for Public Administration.

Maddox has held positions with The Sanctuary Child Learning Center in Savannah, HMSHost in Savannah and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire. She also has internship experience with Greenbriar Children’s Center and the First Steps Parents of Newborns Program at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital. Soon, Maddox will be working as a behavior technician helping children that have Autism spectrum disorder.

“This past year, as a part of their Educational Performance Outreach Series, Savannah Ballet Theatre launched Low Sensory performances for their amazing productions specifically designed for individuals with autism spectrum disorders, sensory sensitivities, or other disabilities. Since I am working in this field, I believe I can bring some great expertise to the table to make these shows curated and even more special for these children in our community,” Maddox said. “I am elated to be a part of an organization that allows the arts to be accessible for all and am honored to join an extremely talented board.”

In addition to joining the SBT Board, Maddox will be starting her new job, earning her MPA, and becoming a wife in 2020. Maddox is excited for the personal growth and development she is sure to gain this year and the impact she will have on the community through joining SBT in their mission.

Maddox joins Curt Bryant, Florence Bryant, Traci Hall, Jay Jernigan, Gif Lockley, Jennifer Madison, Rob Miller, and Lauren Schwan on the board along with Artistic Director Sue Braddy and Advancement Director Abby McCuen.

“Although we are facing extremely challenging times right now, we are trying to stay positive and look towards a better future and are very eager to have Jamie join our board,” said Board President Curt Bryant. “The arts bring us together as a community, and we are anticipating a great new season with our original fall production, our classic ballet The Nutcracker, and the expansion of our educational outreach programs once this pandemic has passed.”
