Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) will be donating hundreds of lunches to Salvation Army of Savannah’s (TSA) shelter residents and men in their Work Therapy Rehabilitation Program. This free lunch program will run from Wednesday, May 13 to Saturday, May 16, at TSA’s community center and will feed 130 people in need every day.

“The Salvation Army is so blessed to be a conduit of the kindness of this community and the families and individuals that need it most. We are so excited to see faces light up when we serve KFC’s delicious chicken,” said Salvation Army Major Paul Egan.

KFC has assisted The Salvation Army nationwide since 1964, dating back to the original Colonel H. Sanders making charitable donations to those who needed it most. KFC has a rich history of generosity to various charities and organizations, and they plan to expand their contribution to other parts of Georgia such as Augusta, Vidalia, Jesup, Richmond Hill, Hinesville, Rincon, and Metter, as local communities face unprecedented times.

“Many people may not know that the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants in Savannah and surrounding communities are locally owned and operated. We live here and have raised our families here. We know that many in our community have been negatively affected by the situation created by the Coronavirus. Our customers are our neighbors and friends, and we felt the need to help by giving something back to the communities that have been so supportive of us,” said KFC owner Inman Hodges, Jr. “The Salvation Army does such great and necessary work, and we understand that they have seen an increase of those in need for the help that they provide. We felt that partnering with The Salvation Army would be a great way for us to pitch in and help too. It’s great to see the smiles created by the hot delicious meals we are providing to those in our communities who need it most.”  

TSA has served greater Savannah for the past 120 years and has always supported the most vulnerable in our community. Whether the community is affected by COVID-19, hurricanes, floods, or fires, the organization continues to assist those who need it the most.
