Savannah Technical College to Host Leadership Training Event in April 2021

Savannah Technical College is hosting a leadership training event, New Manager 3.0, on April 16, 2021. The one-day conference is designed for all and ideal for anyone new to leadership.

The keynote speaker is Ryan Hawk. Other speakers include Savannah Bananas Owner Jesse Cole, STC Dean of Business & Professional Services Dr. Ashley Morris; Employability CEO Brendon Ferrara, City of Savannah HR Director Jeff Grant, Liberty Regional CEO Tammy Mims, and RH Foods District Manager Demietrius Frazier.

“This event is just the beginning of the training opportunities Savannah Technical College provides for managers tasked with leading a 21st century workforce,” said STC’s Vice President of Economic Development Dr. Brent Stubbs. “We are the leader for training our area’s workforce and aspire to be the leader in leadership development training for our community.” 

The $140 event admission includes a contactless lunch and Hawk’s new book, “Welcome to Management.”  The conference has a 125 maximum and will be held in the Eckburg Auditorium, which usually has a 300 person maximum. The event will follow CDC guidelines to maintain a safe environment for conference attendees. 

The event is open to all and ideal for anyone new to leadership such as: a new or soon-to-be-promoted manager, team members who go above and beyond, entrepreneurs and small business owners preparing for expansion, experienced managers interested in a refresher and new insights. Teams are also welcome. 

“I’m excited to come to Savannah to be surrounded by growth oriented leaders who understand the value of investing in themselves in order to become more effective leaders for the people they lead,” said Hawk. “Making the leap from individual contributor is one of the biggest jumps in a person’s career. It is critical to do everything in your power to do the job effectively.” 

Hawk is an author, advisor, and the host of The Learning Leader Show, a podcast with millions of listeners in more than 150 countries. He is the author of “Welcome To Management: How To Grow From Top Performer To Excellent Leader” (McGraw-Hill, January 28, 2020).

A lifelong student of leadership, Hawk rose to roles as a professional quarterback and VP of Sales at a multibillion-dollar company. Currently, as head of Brixey & Meyer’s leadership advisory practice, he speaks regularly at Fortune 500 companies, works with teams and players in the NFL, NBA, and NCAA, and facilitates “Leadership Circles” that offer structured guidance and collaborative feedback to new and experienced leaders.

STC’s Professional Continuing Education Department provides short-term classes in both traditional and online classroom settings. Courses cover a variety of skills and workforce development options that match local employer’s needs.
