Abbie DeLoach Foundation Launches Revamped Website and Announces Success of True Blue 5K Sponsorship

Monday, December 14th, 2020

The Abbie DeLoach Foundation (ADF) is pleased to announce the launch of its new website, www.abbiedeloachfoundation.com. The site highlights the goals and mission of the organization, which is to keep Abbie’s legacy alive, build on her good works and selfless actions, and reward and encourage those who, like Abbie, live inspired.

Completed in time for the end-of-year donation season, when many donors give generously to charitable organizations, the new ADF website allows for donations to be made online. It also provides easy navigation for scholarship applicants, the latest news about its scholarship offerings and more.

Since Abbie’s too-early passing, ADF has proudly presented nearly $1 million in scholarships reflecting the qualities that exemplified her life — a love of nursing, athleticism and helping others abroad. Since its inception in 2016, ADF has awarded 28 medical scholarships and 12 student-athlete scholarships, funded 10 student service programs, and enabled eight recipients to participate in outreach abroad. In addition, ADF has built an international home for women in Abbie’s name, with $90,000 invested to stop the exploitation of women.

“Through her actions and love of life, Abbie inspired countless people in her 21 short years, and she has continued to do so through the Abbie DeLoach Foundation,” said Jimmy DeLoach Jr., Abbie’s father and founder of ADF. “In the five years since her passing, we have had one key goal: to continue Abbie’s good works. We are grateful for the generous donors and volunteers who help make that possible.”

ADF and Abbie’s Adventure Race recently sponsored the annual True Blue 5K, held in partnership with Georgia Southern University Campus Recreation and Intramurals. The True Blue 5K is held in the fall, typically during the school’s homecoming weekend. The race was held virtually this year from November 14-20. In addition to celebrating Abbie’s love of football with good friends, the True Blue 5K gives ADF the opportunity to give back. ADF will donate $1,000 to the Delta Lambda Chapter of Kappa Delta (the sorority Abbie DeLoach was in) because they were the charity with the most participants in the True Blue 5K.

Although a virtual race, more than 300 registrants participated, including 125 students and 176 faculty, staff, alumni and community members from 18 states as well as a participant in Japan. Each registrant received a new T-shirt to keep the spirit of the race alive across the campus and beyond. The True Blue 5K is usually paired with Abbie’s Adventure Race, where whacky and fun meet a competitive element.

To support ADF and make an impact on nursing students and student athletes with scholarships and other good works abroad, corporate and individual donations can be made at https://abbiedeloachfoundation.com/give-now/.
