Local Savannahians Open New Pizzeria in Medical Arts Center in Midtown Savannah

Thursday, January 7th, 2021

Midtown Pizza, Savannah’s newest headquarters for house made, craft pizzas, recently opened to the public this fall in Savannah’s Medical Arts Center at 4827 Waters Ave. (Savannah, Ga.). Founded by Savannah natives Jerome Davis and David Stewart, the locally-owned pizzeria features an upgraded pizza experience with a selection of made-to-order and signature specialty pizzas.

“We wanted to open in an area where it would be convenient for locals to get a classic, but upgraded pizza experience made with select ingredients while incorporating those tried-and-true traditional methods of pizza making,” said Jerome Davis, co-owner of Midtown Pizza. “We also wanted to make sure we created a menu thoroughly taste-tested by some of the best in the business to ensure we deliver an incredible product to our customers.”

Midtown Pizza enlisted the help of Chef Adam Griffin to serve as their pizza/food consultant. A south Georgia native, Griffin made a name for himself on the West Coast serving as executive chef at several well-established restaurants and later as the owner/operator of his own restaurant. With Griffin’s help, Midtown Pizza came to life and focuses on delivering quality ingredients, creative combinations, at an affordable investment. Beyond craft pizza, the menu also offers guests personalized calzones with their favorite ingredients with several hearty, freshly made salads, and crispy hot wings.

Born and raised in Savannah, Ga., Davis is a local real estate developer and graduate of Benedictine Military School and Georgia Southern University. Initially a biochemistry major with plans for medical school, he dabbled in real estate development on a small scale to afford the hefty school tuition. After some quick success, he discovered his real passion lied in real estate.

“David and I were involved in a number of real estate projects and always talked about crossing over into an owner/operated small business if the opportunity ever presented itself,” said Davis. “Coincidentally, just prior to COVID, we decided to move forward with the Midtown Pizza concept because we initially felt the pizza business was recession-proof because let’s be honest, who doesn’t love pizza?”

Their hunch paid off and Davis is currently working on a second pizzeria with a similar concept for a downtown location on Habersham Street. “We’re excited to share with Savannah our love of great pizza at an entry-level that works for all. Midtown Pizza is already off to a strong start and we’re looking forward to sharing more on the second location coming early 2021,” said Davis.

Last week, Midtown Pizza kicked off a special HOLIDAY PIZZA DRIVE to help feed deserving families this holiday season. Customers who buy one 14” pizza or lunch special will have the option to “gift” two 14” pizzas to a family of their choice to be picked up anytime during normal business hours and donated by Midtown Pizza. They can also opt to give their two-pizza donation to a local nonprofit selected by Midtown Pizza at the conclusion of the drive (12/31).

In addition, starting tomorrow (Tuesday, 12/22/20), children 10-years-old and younger will receive two free slices of pizza between 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. to help bridge the gap between the school lunch program and the holiday break. “This is just a small way to say thank you to our community and help ensure that no child goes hungry,” said Jerome Davis. ***Offer is good Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-2pm, 12/22/20-1/5/21.***
