Augusta Native Stephanie Forbes, First SCAD Double Legacy Student, Announces Her First Savannah Gallery Showing

Thursday, March 4th, 2021

When Rob Forbes (Summa Cum Laude, 1986) and Lynn McCormack (Magna Cum Laude, 1987) met as fellow students at the Savannah College of Art and Design back in 1984, they never imagined that their favorite collaborative work of art would become an historical figure at their beloved alma mater. Of course, with such a family pedigree, it was practically inevitable.

Alumna Stephanie Sunshine Forbes, SCAD’s first “double legacy” student, was recently named an Atelier Associate by the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Her “ROOT, Family Suppression and the Low Country” is a solo exhibition that will highlight the mysterious air of the South, and aspects of the Low Country, parallel to family suppression and generational reconciliation. This showcase will feature a range of conceptual works from sculpture, paintings, installation works and jewelry.

Stephanie Forbes was granted a position with the Savannah College of Art and Design

as an Alumni Atelier Associate where she will be working in a studio supplied by the

college to create this body of work. Being the first double legacy student, Stephanie

has continued to search for and work toward opportunities to continue working with

the school and growing as an artist.
