Savannah Classical Academy (SCA) reports a positive year for the charter school as the 2021 Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS) scores are released by The Georgia Department of Education. 

The public charter school outscored the Savannah Chatham County Public School System district in 18 out of 23 courses. SCA is the only school in Chatham County that assessed 100 percent of all eligible students for the 2021 GMAS. SCA has been and continues to be good stewards of Chatham County’s taxpayer dollars by delivering excellence both in the classroom and in the community.

“SCA students are held to a high academic standard through rigorous courses so assessments, like the GMAS, are an essential tool to help our teachers evaluate how students are performing. It is also important for SCA to evaluate our performance compared to other schools,” said SCA Chief Executive Officer Barry Lollis. “We prioritize full participation and are proud of our teachers and students’ 2021 GMAS scores. We look forward to more positive achievement outcomes through our continued investment in our school.”    

The Georgia Milestones Assessment System is a comprehensive summative assessment program and represents a single system of summative assessments that span all three levels of the state's educational system – elementary, middle, and high school. The system is designed to send consistent signals about students' preparedness for the next level, be it the next grade, course, or endeavor, such as entering college or beginning a career after leaving the K-12 educational system.
