JCB Holds Annual Food Drive to Support Savannah's Second Harvest Food Bank
Wednesday, December 1st, 2021
November begins the holiday season with Thanksgiving ushering in family gatherings and special celebrations. And while families across the country planned meals with turkey and dressing, the Leadership Development Program at JCB turned their attention to those in need by holding their annual canned food drive in support of Second Harvest Food Bank.
“The past two years have been particularly challenging for people in our community who are already at risk for food insecurity. Our Leadership Development team at JCB has partnered with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Coastal Georgia, to increase food donations so more families won’t experience hunger during the holidays,” said Tonya Poole, Vice President of Human Resources, JCB North America.
According to Second Harvest Food Bank, more than 175,000 Coastal Georgia families live with food insecurity and more than 45,000 children are at risk for hunger. JCB’s Leadership Development Program, which helps recent college graduates who have joined the JCB team to find their strengths, held the food drive from November 1-19. The coordinated effort brought in 1,270 lbs. of food equaling 1,058 meals.
“We’re always looking for ways to support our community, but this is something that is close to our hearts,” Poole explained. “During a season which puts emphasis on being thankful, we’re grateful for Second Harvest Food Bank’s efforts which bring relief and joy to so many. It’s a privilege to help in some small way.”
