River Street Sweets • Savannah’s Candy Kitchen, the south’s signature candy franchise, along with parent companies River Street Sweets® and Savannah’s Candy Kitchen continued  their sweet partnership with America’s Second Harvest’s Kids Cafe and are donating proceeds from National Praline Day to the Kids Cafe Program.

Kids Cafe originated in Savannah in 1989 and is designed to provide children at-risk for hunger a nutritious evening meal along with tutoring, homework assistance, and a safe haven. America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia works in collaboration with various non-profits and faith-based organizations at Kids Cafe sites in coastal Georgia to provide tutors, mentors, supervision, and activities for the children.

This is the 5th year these candy companies have joined together to donate 10 percent of all praline sales in stores and online on Praline Day, June 24th,  to the Kids Cafe Program. This year, cash donation jars were added in each location for the month of June in honor of Stan Strickland.

‘Last year we were able to supply over 35,000 meals so this year our goal was to raise enough money to cover 50,000 meals for kids at risk for hunger. We are excited that we exceeded our goal and raised $ 10,498.67  (52,590 meals!)

We are passionate about using our voice on National Praline Day to help make an impact on children facing hunger and we hope our donations help them continue the incredible work they do not only in this community, but nationwide.”- Jennifer Strickland, co-founder of RSS • SCK.
