Alair Homes is proud to support the Coastal Georgia chapter of the National Association of Women In Construction (NAWIC), during the 25th anniversary of Women In Construction (WIC) Week by matching the high school scholarships that the organization gives out each year. NAWIC Coastal Georgia hosted their yearly scholarship luncheon which also serves as a wrap up to their WIC week festivities on March 10th, 2023. In years past scholarships were given to Savannah Technical College and Windsor Forest High School. These educational institutes were chose due to their tie-in to the construction industry, through their programming and pathways. This year, Woodville Thompkins High School was added as a scholarship recipient for the mentorship that NAWIC has recently kindled with their Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club.

NAWIC opened up a scholarship match sponsorship option and Alair Homes has a mission of providing opportunities to train and educate the next generation on careers in the construction world. “One of the core missions NAWIC seeks to obtain is to give back to our community. This year, with the generosity of Alair Homes, we were able to give back more than ever before,” shares Erin Clay, president of NAWIC Coastal Georgia.

“To be honest, the choice to match the high school scholarships from Alair seemed like a great way to continue on our mission of supporting woman and the next generation to join the construction industry,” Jessica Leavitt, Regional Community Manager for Alair Homes and WIC Week chairperson at NAWIC.

“Our industry is seeing major holes in the labor force, especially in a post-pandemic world. As I am getting closer to retirement, I love to share my experiences and encourage young people to join the construction industry.” Says Cal Rowles, partner and general manager of Alair Homes Savannah.

David Balza, owner of Alair Homes Lowcountry shares, “I started in this industry as a painter, grew my first business to encompass painting and handyman services, so sharing the path that can lead to success is important to me. I am proud to support the scholarships for these two deserving high school programs.”
