Staff Report

Thursday, April 27th, 2023

The Annual SCCPSS Superintendent's Cup Competition was held on Saturday, April 15, 2023.  The Superintendent's Cup is a competition amongst all of the JROTC units in SCCPSS.  These units include:

Beach High School (Army JROTC)
Groves High School (Army JROTC)
Savannah High School (Army JROTC)
Windsor Forest High School (Army JROTC)
Jenkins High School (Navy JROTC)
Johnson High School (Navy JROTC)
New Hampstead High School (Air Force JROTC)

The competitive events include Squad Drill, Color Guard, Cadet Physical Fitness Challenge, Academic Testing, Marksmanship, and a Basketball Tournament.  In this competition, competing units are assigned a score based upon their placing in each event (for example, 1st Place equals 1 point, 2nd Place equals 2 points, etcetera).  After completing all six events, the lowest placing score is dropped, and the other five scores are calculated into an overall points score.  The unit with the lowest overall points scored is deemed the winner.

This year, the competition ended with Beach High School and Jenkins High School tied with an overall points scored of 10 points each.  Thus, a tie-breaking event had to be determined.  It was decided that the best Color Guard performance would determine the winner.

Since Jenkins High School's Color Guard took 1st Place in the competition, Jenkins High School was determined the winner of the 2022-2023 Superintendent's Cup.

Individual competition winners are as follows:

Rifle Team – Beach High

Top Shot Female - Shania Evans/Beach High School

Top Shot Male - Kylan Daniels/Windsor Forest High School
