Plant Riverside District — which is widely known as Savannah’s Entertainment District – is pleased to host Retro Rewind: Sunday Movies at District Live, a special summer series of family-friendly film screenings at 400 W. River St. in Savannah, Ga.

Retro Rewind: Sunday Movies at District Live will run from Sunday, July 9 through Sunday, September 3. Feature films will begin at 4 p.m., with doors opening at 3 p.m.

“We invite local residents and visitors to beat the heat this summer and join us for fun film screenings and delicious snacks at District Live,” said Scotty Henley, Director of Entertainment at JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District. “From animated favorites and inspiring sports stories to science fiction fantasies, our Retro Rewind series at District Live series offers something for everyone to enjoy.”

Seating will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Children are invited to bring their favorite pillow, blanket or sleeping bag to get comfortable and enjoy a movie in front of the big screen.  

Concessions and a variety of soft drinks will be available for purchase as well as beer, wine and a full bar for adults 21+. No coolers or outside food or drink will be permitted.

The Retro Rewind series will offer screenings of the following films: 

FROZEN (Rated PG, 2013)

Sunday, July 9 — 4 p.m.

Featuring the GRAMMY and Academy Award-winning song “Let It Go,” Disney’s animated smash hit Frozen follows Princess Anna, voiced by Kristen Bell, as she travels to bring her sister, Queen Elsa, voiced by Idina Menzel, back to the kingdom of Arendelle after Elsa inadvertently causes an eternal winter with her magical powers. An ice deliverer Kristoff, his reindeer Sven and a naive snowman Olaf join Anna for the adventure of a lifetime that ultimately showcases the strength of sisterly love. 

E.T. THE EXTRA TERRESTRIAL (Rated PG, 1982)
Sunday, July 16 — 4 p.m.

The winner of four Oscars, this cinematic masterpiece by Steven Spielberg centers on the heartwarming friendship between a young boy named Elliott and a lost alien he nicknames E.T. Elliott and his siblings need to get E.T. back to his home planet, but first, they must evade the adults who fear him most. 

WALL-E (Rated G, 2008)
Sunday, July 23 — 4 p.m.
It’s love at first sight for WALL-E, a lonely, curious robot who is left to clean up Earth after humans abandon the planet they covered with trash. The 2009 Golden Globe Award winner for Best Animated Film, this Disney and Pixar film follows the adventures of WALL-E and his high-tech robot love Eve, who was sent to Earth to determine if it is inhabitable again, and the chaos that ensues when WALL-E returns to Eve’s spaceship — the home of Earth’s former inhabitants.

WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY (Rated G, 1971)
Sunday, July 30 — 4 p.m.
Journey into a world of pure imagination alongside five lucky golden ticket holders — spoiled brat Veruca, TV-obsessed Mike, gluttonous Augustus, gum-smacking Violet, humble Charlie and their chaperones. Willy Wonka, portrayed by Gene Wilder, showcases his chocolate factory filled with eccentricities, including singing Oompa Loompas and ever-lasting gobstoppers, and takes the group on a hair-raising tour that will change all of their lives. 

TOY STORY (Rated G, 1995)

Sunday, August 6 — 4 p.m.

One of Disney and Pixar’s best-loved animated films, Toy Story steps inside Andy’s room, where his toys are alive and struggling with their differing opinions about the new Buzz Lightyear toy, voiced by Tim Allen. Trouble brews when Buzz Lightyear seems to be displacing Woody the Cowboy, voiced by Tom Hanks, as Andy’s favorite toy. 

THE IRON GIANT (Rated PG, 1999)

Sunday, August 13 — 4 p.m.
Young boy Hogarth becomes what he calls “the luckiest kid in America” when he befriends a giant robot in the woods. Pressured by federal government officials that are convinced the robot is evil, Hogarth is on a mission to protect his new friend, teach him the ways of the human world and prove this robot with child-like qualities is inherently good.

THE INCREDIBLES 2 (Rated PG, 2018)

Sunday, August 20 — 4 p.m.

A wealthy businessman wants to bring back superheroes, starting with Elastigirl, which leaves her husband Mr. Incredible at home handling daughter Violet’s first crush, helping son Dash with his homework and supervising toddler Jack Jack, who is constantly developing new powers. With all of this going on, can the Incredibles come together to defeat the Screenslaver, who is causing chaos with mind-altering screens 

THE MIGHTY DUCKS (Rated PG, 1992)

Sunday, August 27 — 4 p.m.
Emilio Estevez stars as a former hockey player with no further interest in the sport until he is assigned to do some community service and coach a little league hockey team that has a reputation for epic losses. Can he turn this ragtag group of hockey players into a winning team of Mighty Ducks?

UP (Rated PG, 2009)

Sunday, September 3 — 4 p.m.
In Disney and Pixar’s animated film Up, widower Carl Fredricksen, voiced by the late Ed Asner, tries to preserve the life he built with his wife Ellie, despite all of the pressures to change. Faced with moving to a retirement home, Karl turns his home into a hot air balloon and fulfill his wife’s lifelong dream to visit the exotic Paradise Falls, but things do not go exactly as planned.
